Description
TELLUS was designed by Bou Design Studio for the 5 Mimar 5 Breeze series. Its name means “earth, soil” in Latin. The design features a solid arch rising from the base within a square frame. The space surrounding the arch creates an area through which light and air pass.
The arch is one of the oldest forms of architecture. TELLUS approaches this form not as an opening, but as a mass situated within the frame. When the blocks are stacked on top of one another, each module creates the impression of a small door or niche. The wall thus transforms into a rhythmic series of silhouettes.
TELLUS garden walls, measuring 20×20×10 cm, can be used for courtyard boundaries, terrace dividers, and interior partitions. When blocks in different shades are used together, the arch silhouettes stand out more clearly. Each block is individually hand-cast in Istanbul.
