Description
No. 2 terracotta breeze block is composed of intersecting circular arcs within a square frame. At the center where the arcs meet, a four-pointed, curved star is formed. Leaf-shaped openings are arranged around it.
This pattern is a minimalist interpretation of the circular interlocking motifs found in many traditional architectural styles from the Mediterranean to the Middle East. When the blocks are placed side by side, the arcs connect with the adjacent blocks, creating a pattern of interlocking circles along the wall. The 10×10 cm module transforms the motif into a dense, lace-like texture.
No. 2 is available in the natural red hue of terracotta. The front and back surfaces can also be glazed in a color selected from the Karoistanbul glaze catalog. The contrast between the glazed surface and the natural color of the terracotta visible in cross-section highlights the depth of the pattern.
It can be used on facades, courtyard and garden walls, and as a permeable partition indoors. Each piece is individually hand-shaped from clay and fired.
